This edition, designed by George Salter, is part of the fiftieth anniversary of the publication of the first Borzoi Book. It restores to print the much-admired translation of Der Tod in Venedig by Kenneth Burke. Fine condition but for slight offset to endpages. The DJ is price clipped and sunned to spine. The slipcase has a pen mark and faint shelfwear. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 118 pages .
Synopsis
The novella Death in Venice was written by the German author Thomas Mann, and was first published in 1912 as Der Tod in Venedig. It was first published in English in 1925 as Death in Venice and Other Stories, translated by Kenneth Burke. W. H. Auden called it the definitive translation.
