Toronto: Methuen, 1980. Hardcover. fine. 1st edition. xv, 272pp. Brown cloth with gilt title on spine and front cover in a fine dust jacket. Octavo with black and white illustrations in text. Signed by the author on the front free endpaper. Also laid in loosely are two letters from the author along with two wonderful refugee camp letters from Koch written in May and July of 1941. Very scarce with this interesting ephmera. fine In 1940 as the Nazi forces swept Europe the British Government in a fit of panic interned all enemy aliens including those only recently escaped from Hitler's grip. They were then shipped to Canada. Canada thought they were receiving dangerous prisoner-of -war but found that they had a motley crowd of teenaged students, rabbis and priests to deal with. 1980
