Index, 110pp., foreword by David Farmer and David J. Weber, with an Introduction and A Comment on the Translation and Edition by Cutter. Small 4to with gilt spine titles on brick cloth backed decorated white boards. Number four in the DeGolyer Library Series. Near fine copy with lightly bumped corners.

Hugh O'Connor's report to deCroix 22 July 1777. One of the DeGolyer Library, includes a facsimile of the original report document. O'Connor was a military governor of Northern Mexico, appointed as governor of Tejas by the Spanish Viceroy of New Mexico in 1767.It was reported that he rode over 10,000 miles on horseback doing his duties. He was called The Red Captain by the Apaches. He was the founding father of Tucson Arizona, having established a fort there in 1775. Because of health reasons he asked for a transfer to the Yucatan Peninsula, where he was appointed governor in 1777., He lived there until his death in 1779.
