Very good. - Small quarto [10-1/4 inches high by 7-3/4 inches wide], black cloth titled in gilt on the spine with 2 gilt rules around the front cover & spine, in a dust wrapper. There is a tiny hole in the cloth of the front joint with a corresponding hole in the spine of the dust jacket. The dust jacket is lightly rubbed & chipped with soiling to its rear panel. xii & 650 pages. Profuse black-and-white illustrations. Very good

An account of the author's archaeological discoveries in Transjordan, once the home of the ancient Nabataeans in the first centuries B.C. and A.D. Their kingdom stretched from Transjordan across the Negev to Sinai and from Arabia to Syria.
