The first edition of this uncommon work.'A Demigod' follows aa Eugenics programmes founded in Greece in the seventeenth century; in the late nineteenth century, this programme has created a Superman, who has extraordinary strength and intellect. This superman, named Hector Vyr, was compared by reviewers to Hercules, Theseus, and Perseus. This was one of the first fictional works to explore the themes of eugenics, and looks at how it could affect mankind.By Edward Payson Jackson, an educator of science and classics.Wakefield Public Library label to the front paste down, their blind stamp to the title page.Twelve pages of publisher's adverts to the rear.
