Calcutta: Thacker, Spink and Co., 1891. Kipling's first book. First published in 1886; this is a Near Fine copy of the Sixth Indian Edition. Maroon cloth binding, ruled, with bevelled edges; titling in gilt on the spine. The front cover has a decorative version of the title in gilt - sheaves of paper bound with a ribbon. Rear cover has the publisher's device in black. Clean text; 125 pages, with a Glossary (for non-Colonials) and a 24 page publisher's catalog in the rear. Close to a Fine copy; just some hints of rub at the margins. In an archival plastic protector. A really lovely copy.. Later Printing. Hard Cover. Near Fine/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
