Edward Browne was a 17th-century British doctor who is curiously much better known for his extensive voyages and travel literature. Most of Browne's journeys took him to Central and Southern Europe where he toured Germany, Hungary, Greece, and Macedonia and countless locations in between. He wrote a highly popular holy day devotional, much of which was based on his experiences around the world.
Published in 1641, this book contains descriptions of each important holy day and liturgical calendar feast day. However, the most interesting inclusion is a thorough description of and mediation on November 5, Guy Fawkes Day and the Gunpowder Plot!
