Octavo, xx, 348 pages with a map, several kinship tables, 9 diagrams and several tables plus 2 charts and 8 pages of plates. Papered boards; extremities slightly bumped; edges foxed; flyleaves slightly marked and tanned; pastedowns tape-marked; minor light pencilling; a very good copy with the dustwrapper a littled creased, rubbed and torn. The 5-page foreword is by A.P. Elkin. 'One of the few full-length studies of an aboriginal tribe, but, with its careful exploration of kinship and social organization, has major importance for social anthropology in general' (dustwrapper blurb).
