London: The Falcon Press, 1946. Beige quarter-bound boards with gilt titling to front and spine. Book in very good condition except for two small dents to bottom of front cover, slight rubbing to edges. Spine is very slightly shaken, pages are toned. Illustrated dust-jacket is intact but worn with many open tears to edges and joints. Slipped-in "Amendments" card is present, recto frontispiece. All text and illustrations are very clean and clear; 183 pages plus index. Oflag IVC was a high-security German prison camp during the Second World War, designed to contain officers who had escaped several times. "Compiled from material brought back from Oflag IVC, the International "bad boys" camp. The script totals roughly 80,000 words of narrative written by the officers, with commentaries of true incidents of battle, prison and escape. The text is accompanied by thirty-two pastels in four-colour and thirty-two pastels and cartoons in mono-colour by Lieut. J. F. Watton of the border Regiment." (From dust-jacket.). First Edition.
