Description

New York, London et al.: Doubleday, 1989. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. New York, London et al: Doubleday, 1989. First edition. 10 1/2 x 7 1/4 inches: xiv, 719, (2). Peach photographic dust jacket with alternating purple and black colored rectangle on front panel and spine with light blue titles. Red cloth over peach boards with gold gilt titles on spine. Illustrated throughout with photographs and facsimiles of the diary pages. Dust jacket has light edge wear, scuffing, small bit of creasing near bottom spine edges. Vertical crease/indentation running the length of spine join on front panel of dust jacket - looks like the dust jacket might have been cut a little too large for the book. Small bump at upper edge of front board. Slight concave curve to spine. Text is unmarked. Binding tight. Critical edition of the classic World War II diary. It contains never before published versions of the diary: Anne's original journal, her manuscript as she edited it, and the popular story with her father's revisions; biographies of the Frank family members; a historical account of the events following the Frank family's discover and arrest; scientific evaluations and photographic examples of Anne's handwriting and the paper she used, which authenticated the time period where the writing of the journal took place.
