The variety of peoples who occupied the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea, where the Bible originated, were as plentiful as the variety of landscapes found there and these people also professed a large variety of pagan religions. Among these peoples emerged Israel, which alone had a monotheistic religion embodied in the worship of Jehova and which was written in what we now call the Old Testament, which includes 46 books. With the birth of Jesus Christ, arises Christianity and additional canonical text: the New Testament with 27 books. The Old Testament was written in Hebrew, with some passages in Aramaic and Greek, while the New Testament was in the New Greek. Some scholars have long argued that the Bible is a coded message, a Message that could only be read with the appropriate clues: '... they look without seeing, and hearing they hear not, neither understand' (Matthew 13, 13). This 'Esoteric Dictionary' is intended as a guide investigating some of these clues, clues that may permit the sacred texts to be seen with new eyes that reveal their hidden spiritual treasure.
