About This Item
George, Stefan, Baudelaire: Die Blumen des Bosen. Very good copy of German 1901 Revised Second Edition of Stefan George's Translations of Baudelaire's Les Fleurs du Mal. Exceptionally well preserved. Prime example the Book as a Work of Art in bright gilt stamped cloth cover and spine on handcut paper with overlapping of pure text and text which Stefan George developed along with his own type as an element of his concept of "the poetological," an approach to publishing inspired by his personal contact with the Paris circle of symbolists around Stéphane Mallarmé and the French symbolist concept of "L'art pour l'art". Some sunning to cloth boards.
