Berlin: Mittler, 1844 8vo (21.5 cm), VIII, 130. [1] pp, 3 plates. Cont. cloth, spine and edges gilt (split of front hinge at top about 1 cm, some toning of paper). A good copy of the first edition of the book examining Roman coins in connection to the history of the Germans and Sarmatians. Baron Bernhard Karl von Köhne (1817-1887), a distinguished numismatist and Director of the Arms Section in the Heraldic Department of the Russian Senate, was widely recognized in imperial Russia for his expertise in these fields.
