Inscribed by renowned mountaineer Francis Fox Tuckett, whose daughter Elizabeth was the illustrator. Title page dated 1873. Illustrated title page and " Dramatis Personae page, full page map, followed by 38 single sided pages of illustrations and text captions. The inscription is dated 1884, and signed F.F. Tuckett. ( to Mrs Molson in Montreal ). There is also a prev. owner note on the same endpaper, recording the acquisition of this copy at a private auction in Victoria, BC. A wonderful association copy..

[Leipzig: Insel-Verlag, 1903].. Folio sheet (33.7 x 26.5 cm), with image size 17 x 12.5 cm. Somewhat crudely matted, otherwise about fine. One of an unspecified but small number of proof impressions of this illustration by Behmer for the 1903 edition of Wilde's SALOME, translated by Hedwig Lachmann, and published in an edition of only fifty copies on Japan vellum. Captioned in pencil beneath the image "Fuer Buchen M." Although untitled here, it is referred to as "The Page of Herodias" in the secondary literature, and kneeling figure in black before a burning censer, with a barren tree and a full moon dominating the foreground and background.

Finely illustrated with 8 full colour tipped-in plates, 24 full page mono plates, decorative title page and 26 vignettes, some repeated throughout the book. Top edge with original publishers black stain, the others untrimmed. Black endpapers. A fine, clean copy in publishers black cloth. Black and gold printed onlay to the front board. Spine with gilt lettering and small publishers design. The design gilt is rubbed but the lettering is fine and bright. Remains of the rare original illustrated dustwrapper loosely inserted. Most of it present, if torn and a little creased, apart from the front inner flap, so it could be easily restored if required. Housed in the original publishers black paper covered box with colour plate onlaid to the top. The box is rubbed and a bit bumped to the edges but overall in very good condition. Gandavi,: Typis Judoci Begyn,, 1786 (= 1787).. [10], 466, [ii]; [iv], 44, [iv] pp. 4to (20 x 24.5 cm.). Recent half brown morocco, spine with 5 raised bands; marbled boards. ¶ An interesting municipal pharmacopoea, published by order of the Collegium Medici Gandensis under the editorship of the pharmacists J. de Bever, A.D. Goormachtigh, G. van den Haute, and J. de Vos. The popolar names of the Materia Medica also give in Dutch. This was the last of a series of the municipal pharmacopoeasof Gent. The first was published in 1653 as 'Antidotarium Gandavensis", followed by an edition in 1663, and in 1756 as 'Pharmacopoea Gandavensis'. This is the last municipal pharmacopoea published in Belgium, and new was that the names of the Materia Medica are given in both Latin and Dutch. Today very rare.-- (A number of leaves slightly browned and/or partly foxed).

Contemporary dark brown half morocco, spine with 5, gilt rulled, raised bands; glt lettered (top of spine of the first volume with some loss of leather;som slight rubbing; 3 lower corners slightly bumped). ¶ Rozet A 366. The very rare second, (only a few copies in the WorldCat), and much expanded, edition of this important text. Hahnemann wrote this work in Paris during the last years of his life. In this work Hahnemann gives the history of 22 medicines and their application in chronic diseases. It is an indispensable complement to his "Organon". It is Hahnemann's last work, and includes in extension his "Psora-Lehre". --(A usual with the Baillière publication of this period, foxed throughout the volumes).

Italia: n.p., 1835. Very Good. 19 cm; 20 pages (three blank), including 7 full-page illustrations with captions. Text and illustrations lithographed throughout. Bound in (later?) plain wraps. Not in Melzi. No copies located. Apparently unrecorded booklet with text and illustrations produced completely in lithograph. The text reproduces an italic calligraphy that must have been lettered in reverse on stone, or written out on transfer paper before being applied to the lithographic stone. The narrative concerns a lady who is handily juggling simultaneous affairs with a young man and with the young man's father.
