Washington DC: Mason, Otis T., 1902. First edition. Paperback. Good. Good only age-toned and collectible first edition of this important short work on American Indian basketry. Book has the ghost of an old sticker and edgewear at the spine and an area of loss on the back cover about the size of a quarter . Edgewear is mostly at the ends where the paper covers overlap the text block. Includes forty-four illustrations that depict various weaving styles admirably, so that the reader can identify the style when examining a particular basket. Baskets are complex, and this short 31 page booklet accomplishes a lot. For some reason I'm not sure of, this book has a 3-page alphabetical list of almost 200 tribes with their language stock and historic environs on the last pages. Possesses the superior clarity of text and graphics as per an original document. 397 pp. Ships securely boxed with tracking on domestic orders.
