London: Duckworth, 1930. First edition. Hardback. Good/Poor. Duckworth, London, 1930. First edition. Book condition: good. A little shelf wear and very slight bumping to lower corners. Light soiling/discolouration - mainly to spine and to a narrow band along the upper edges. Some light tanning to endpapers. Some dust soiling to upper edge of text block. Internally clean and unmarked. Jacket: Poor. Unclipped. Rear cover separated at spine (thouh a small piece of tape has been applied to hold the edges together). Lower half of spine lost, upper half of spine discoloured. Edges worn, corners chipped. Generally rubbed and soiled with discolouration to front and rear. Jacket in a protective sleeve. Sitwell was writing this poem for ten years, The first canto was published in 1921, and two others in 1923 and 1926. The last three have not previously been published. The whole poem is a contest between good and evil, between the spiritual and the physical.
