London: Longman, Rees, 1834. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Signed by Author(s). 1st Printing 7 Copyright dates 1834-1847, FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY FROM THE AUTHOR, "WITH THE AUTHOR'S COMPLIMENTS" TO FRONT BLANK OF FIRST VOLUME. With engraved armorial bookplate of "Lady Davy" to pastedown. Includes "The Story of the Three Bears," which is considered to be the first published version of the tale which would later include "Goldilocks." The present work was Southey's only published work of prose fiction. 7 vol. Collated, complete, with errata to vol. 3, errata slip tipped in to vol. 4, and frontis to vol. 7. With half-title leaves, no ads present. Modern paper over boards with printed title labels. Some page-ends with library ink-stamp, one volume with withdrawn stamp to half-title, and each volume with small date stamp to one preliminary leaf, otherwise the contents are quite clean throughout, a Very Good set.
