About This Item
Toldeo OH: The Franklin Printing and Engraving Company, 1903. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Good. The third title in Gates' Doll series, and one of the more elusive titles. Published by Franklin Printing and Engraving in Toledo but cover pictorial and design is the same format used by Bobbs Merrill for its cover of THE LOST DOLL (1905). Half cloth, half pictorial with an image of the front of the doll front cover, back of the doll rear cover. Covers soiled, some loss to stamped titles in white, corners and edges show obvious wear. Still, solidly bound, insides near fine with illustrations in duotone, a few artfully hand-painted in the style of pre-chromo children's books.
