Quarto, fourth edition (first was 1933), pp. xi, 141, string-bound purple silk-covered boards with a paper label on front, boxed, halftone and color illustrations, some folding. An explanation for Westerners of the cultural significance of dolls as they were displayed during the Girls Festival and Boys Festival, annual celebrations of children. The illustrations show the finest craft work in the field. Condition of this book: Fine, box poor with missing pieces. Size: Quarto. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing.
