Synopsis

Jorge Amado (1912-2001) es tal vez el escritor brasileño más conocido en el mundo. En muchas de sus obras se mezclan los temas naturalistas con un humor obsceno y se describe el mágico ambiente de la gente humilde de Bahía. A los dieciocho años publicó su primera novela, El país del carnaval (1931). Tierra del sinfín (1944), considerada una de sus obra maestra, describe la dura vida de los trabajadores de las plantaciones de cacao. En 1961 fue elegido miembro de la Academia Brasileña de Letras. Doña Flor y sus dos maridos (1966), quizá su novela más famosa, fue llevada al cine por Bruno Barreto en 1976.
