Text has notes and marks present to the margins of the text. Binding tight and solid. For nearly 600 years North Africa had a vibrant, thriving church, until it was swept away by Islam. But at about that time of Constantine's putative conversion, the church split into two branches. The Catholic and the Donatist. Frend's book is a look at how that schism began, its course, and the final collapse of Donatism. Though often referred to as heresy, it was actually a schism. The Donatist were, at least most of them, orthodox. "Donatism and Catholicism represented opposite tendencies in Christian thought. The Churches were in fact two societies, differing fundamentally in outlook on both religious and social questions." E-285; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
