About This Item
First edition. Octavo. Gilt stamped dark blue cloth, top edge stained yellow, uncut and partly unopened. Dust jacket (unclipped; few nicks, spine slightly darkened). Very good, fresh copy. 266 pages. Scarce thus. Preceded the British publication by two months. Libel lawsuits caused the book to be withdrawn, when Alec Waugh claimed that the book contained "innuendoes" that he was a "sexual pervert" and that "as an author I compose.nothing but books about schoolboys" (see Morrow, p. 65).
