New York: R. Worthington, 1880. Hardcover. Good. This volume has a nice West Point Foundry (Cold Spring, NY) and Parrott family association, with an inscription "to Fredericka Wentworth Parrott, from Mother, 1880, The Rockingham". This is the Parrott family, of the West Point Foundry and West Point NY, an important family of Philipstown and Putnam County. Fredericka was the daughter of Peter Parrott, a resident of The Greenwoods at Arden, NY near Tuxedo; she married the Rev. Percy Foster Hall of the Grace Church Chapel. The Rockingham was an old farmstead in the Millstone River Valley (Kingston, NJ) with important Revolutionary War history. George Washington resided there from August to November of 1783, and wrote his Farewell Orders to the Armies announcing his retirement from military service as Commander in Chief, as the War had officially concluded in October. There is a further inscription to St. John's Sunday School, December 1892. De-accessed from St. Philip's Church, Garrison, NY. 4to, unpaginated, b&w frontis, b&w illus throughout. Blue gilt cloth covers with title in gilt on decorative gilt banner on front cover; title in gilt on spine. Covers are dusty and rubbed. Base of spine is damaged up a height of approximately three inches, but front hinge is holding. Internally, pages toned and scattered fox spotting throughout.
