Signed by William Stafford and inscribed to a former owner on the recto of the front free endpaper. Bound in publisher's original pale green cloth stamped in gilt, Near Fine with light fading to cloth, in a Near Fine unclipped dust jacket with light shelf wear and light soiling. A fantastic copy of Stafford's scarce first book--a collection of fictionalized stories about his time spent at Civilian Public Service camps for religious objectors during World War II.
