About This Item

London: Faber and Faber, 1984. Reprint. 12mo (20cm). Red paper wrappers, titled in black; 222pp. Signed by the author on front flyleaf, dated April 1985. Rubbed, upper front corner creased, two old price stickers to rear wrapper, a few leaves dog-eared, generally toned, but sound and clean: just Very Good.

Es'kia Mphahlele (1919-2008) was a distinguished South African writer and literature professor. Lauded as one of the founding figures in modern African literature, he was awarded the Order of the Southern Cross in 1998 by Nelson Mandela.
