Warne,, [1949]. 8vo., Second Edition, with coloured and monochrome plates, numerous illustrations in the text and pictorial endpapers, neat initials of front free endpaper; original series binding of green faux-morocco, upper board blocked and lettered in gilt and black, gilt back, radial corners, a very good, bright, clean copy. An entomological classic, first published in 1937. In this revised edition the original drawings by Dorothy Fitchew are replaced with plates of coloured drawings printed by lithography. Often known simply as 'Cynthia', this was THE dragonfly field guide until Hammond in 1977. Marren, pp.169-169.
