Description:
N.p.: N.p., 1940. Original promotional flyer, featuring eleven songs from "The Drunkard Singing School," to promote the circa 1940s revival of the temperance stage melodrama "The Drunkard." The play was first performed in 1844, among the first of the American temperance plays, and was wildly popular. In the 20th century the play was more frequently performed satirically, with directors adding farcical and campy elements or (as with this revival) musical numbers. Flyer 11.5 x 11.75 inches. Very Good plus, lightly creased and edgeworn.
