First edition hardcover with dust jacket, published by Ziff-Davis, 1961. The dust jacket is intact and is not price clipped. Dr. Mees was Vice President of Research and Development at Kodak from just after WWII until his retirement in 1955. This, his last book, reviews the scientific process behind photography, including research in Sensitometry, emulsions, processing of 8mm and 16mm films, the development of motion picture film, sound recording, Microfile systems, X-Ray research, and the various methods of printing. Specialized topics are also covered, such as Astromonical plates, Nuclear track plates, Autoradiography, reciprocity failure, and much more! 305 pages with Index, illustrated throughout with photos and drawings. 6-3/8" X 9-3/8", sewn binding. Sturdy blue-green cloth covered boards, with the title imprinted in silver on the spine and front cover boards. Cover boards are flat, corners are not bumped or creased. Dust jacket has a 1-1/2" closed tear at the top right corner, some edge wear spots to the top edge. Former owner's book plate pasted to the first flyleaf page, 3" X 4" - though there is no name written on it. high quality coated stock paper stock. There are age tanning spots to the edges of the text block. No former ownership marks, besides the book plate, no writing on the text pages. Not a library discard. Attached photos are of the copy we have in our inventory.
