Tissue, title page and plate all very lightly foxed. Fuirther illustrated with more plates and large folded document facsimile. Folded plate coming loose at spine. Volume II, 480 pages. Frontispiece illustrated with b/w plate of author. Further illustrated with numerous b/w plates and 2 folded maps in a pocket attached to back endpaper. BOTH volumes: Few pages lighlty yellowed. Previous owner's name top of page opposited half title page. Vol II has newer inscription top of half title page. Floral endpapers with few small cuts at edges and corners. Endpapers lighlty worn at spine. Blue cloth illustrated on upper covers with interesting dark colored illustration on spines and upper covers. Head/tail of spines, edges and corners lightly worn. Corners worn and bumped. Spines worn at edges. GOOD+. 1st German Edition. Hard Cover. Good+.
