Very clean brown ribbed cloth boards with gold decoration and lettering on cover, clean unchipped oval paste-on portrait of woman on cover framed in gold eagle decoration. Unchipped gold lettering and small decoration on spine. Tiny spot of of wear to one corner tip. Binding is tight & square, no cracking. Pages and edges are clean. Previous owner name and date (1902) on front free endpaper and at top of title page. Illustrated by Rose Cecil O'Neill (frontis illustration with clean tissue guard, five additional sepia-tone plates). 470 pp..
