Description:
Goldendale, Washington: The Goldendale Sentinel, 1938., 1938. First edition. First Edition. Tan Cloth. 496pp. Photographic illustrations throughout. A very detailed history of Klickitat County, Washington. Fur trade, Columbia River, missionaries, early settlement, Indian wars, agricultural development, as related first-hand by early settlers and participants. Klickitat County runs for 100 miles along the Columbia River in south central Washington. "This little-known book contains material on bank and stagecoach robbers, the vigilantes of Idaho, and, most surprisingly, a correct version of the Hickok-McCanles "fight" as reported by a pony-express rider who arrived at Rock Creek Station immediately after the shooting."--Ramon Adams. Scarce. A couple of small spots on front cover, else a fine copy.
