The story of the grudging acceptance of the need for constant unpolluted water supplies and the many problems, human and technical, that had to be faced in meeting that need. Green cloth boards, silver title to spine. B/w photos and illustrations. Boards clean and bright. Text block browned with some foxing. Contents clean. Dustwrapper is lightly scuffed to rear panel and has a few foxspots to verso (not visible to front).
