Naturalist and non-fiction writer Kenneth Brower (1944 -), son of David Brower, is well known for his books about the environment, national parks, and natural places. In his own words, this volume "tells two stories." One is an account of a five week trip Brower took with two friends across the Brooks Range of Alaska; the story of the Range we saw. The other story is the Range that is not readily apparent to travellers. Text, illustrated with 59 color plates, in 5 parts: 1, Landforms; 2, First Faunas; 3, Inuit; 4, Explorers; and, 5, Prospect.
