London: Faber and Faber, 1977. First edition. Cloth. Near Fine/Near Fine. 8" by 5.5". None. A signed first edition of Robert Holdstock's science fiction novel. This first edition of acclaimed fantasy and science fiction author Robert Holdstock's novel 'Earthwind' is signed and inscribed by the author, with a compliments slip from the publisher. The novel tells of two people trapped on a planet where the colonists have lost their memories and built an accurate copy of Irish stone age society. Holdstock was a much celebrated author, and won three British Science Fiction Association awards and a World Fantasy Award, cited alongside Ursula Le Guin as an inheritor of the fantasy tradition created by J.R.R. Tolkien. First edition, with dustwrapper. Signed and inscribed by the author to the title page: 'For June & Greg - with many good wishes. Rob Holdstock'. Also included is a compliments slip from Faber and Faber, often sent with advance reading copies. 'June' likely to be Holdstock's literary agent. A master storyteller in the fantasy and science fiction genres, Holdstock's skill for imaginative and mysterious writing is on full display in 'Earthwind'. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, in an excellent condition, with some shelfwear to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. The dustwrapper has some very minor offsetting internally to the edges, with some shelfwear to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Minor closed tear to the head of front flyleaf at the joint. Author's inscription to the title page. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Near Fine
