With 25 colour plates [including frontispiece] and many more woodcuts from the Danish illustrator Kay Nielsen and decorative motifs to the top and bottom of every page, this is an exceptionally well presented volume. Regarded by many as his finest work this is a collection of Norwegian fairy tales / folklore re-told. Top & bottom of backstrip is bumped. Slight sunning along the bottom front cover edge leading into the backstrip where the bottom in ch or so is sunned. Fabulous illustrated front and rear end papers; neatly hand written previous owner name on ffep. Slight offset staining to endpapers, most likely due to a previous dustjacket. Inside is in very good plus condition with no marks or tears, just the beautiful bright illustrations. 237x160mm. 204pp. from Otto
