A Beautiful Folio Society version of this classic tale in cream flecked faux vellum covers with bright gilt titles and decoration as on the original Kay Nielsen Illustrated Edition published in 1914 by Hodder and Stoughton. As New . Sharp cornered, tight and Bright - looks unused. The book is housed in a plain deep crimson-red slipcase in EXCELLENT condition. NO Inscriptions or marks - looks Unread. With Clean Bright White page edges, and Lovely cream, black and gilt illustrated end papers. 25 full page Colour plates by Nielsen as per the original. And many charming b/w illustrations in the text. An AS NEW copy of this First Folio printing. Fifteen wonderful stories selected from the volume of folk tales by Asbjörnsen and Moe entitled "Norske Folkeeventyr." Danish artist Kay Nielsen (1886-1957) studied in Paris and lived in England in the years before the first world war. His magical illustrations show an innate understanding of these tales.
