Travel narrative by British travel writer Freya Madeleine Stark (1893 - 1993) famous for her experiences in the Middle East. First published 1945; this is the 4th Printing of 1947. During World War II, she joined the British Ministry of Information. She wrote over two dozen books based on her travels, almost all were published by John Murray in London. This volume, illustrated by author's photos, covers the War years in: I, Aden; II, Egypt; III, Syria; and, IV, Iraq.
