Pp. viii, 516, 2, 1 double page hand-colored map of Persia divided into 5 zoological provinces, 28 full page lithographs (8 of mammals, 10 of birds and 10 of reptiles) of which 18 are hand-colored plates by Keulemans. Publisher’s original blind-stamped dark green cloth with black border lines, lettered in gilt on the spine, original brown endpapers, lg 8vo. This work covers the mammalogy, ornithology, herpetology and geology of Iran and part of Baluchistan. The 200-page section on the avifauna of Iran (covering 248 species) and the 130-page section on the herpetofauna of Iran (covering 62 species) makes this volume of great demand to zoologists. Vol. 1 of this set, which is not offered here, covers the “The Geography” of the Persian Boundary Commission.
