New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1956. First Edition, First Printing. Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Very Good. Gray cloth over boards, title and decorations stamped in black onto top board and spine, 8vo (8 inches tall), pp. viii, 301, illustrated with B&W photos. Volume with text slightly toned, light taps to heel of spine and bottom corners, provenance note in pencil to rear pastedown. Price-intact DJ with toning to edges and spine, closed tears and shallow chipping to spine ends and corners. Inscribed and signed by Pasternak on the ffep to Pete Smith, the Academy Award winning director, producer and narrator "To my dear friend Pete, Hope you like my life story - I did - so far. Yours, Joe P." Pasternak's career as a producer spanned 40 years and he produced more than ninety feature-length films earning him both Oscar and Golden Globe Award nominations. He produced a number of popular films, including Destry Rides Again (1939), The Great Caruso (1951) and musicals with Elvis Presley, Doris Day and Connie Francis.
