Colonel of 21th Wisconsin volunteers and later Colonel of US Volunteers, served at Chickamauga, Chattanooga, and was part of Sherman's march to the sea. Bound in beige/gold cloth with gold-stamped titles and a red acorn on front. Signed, inscribed by Fitch to a professor Loomis. On the first white page is a list in blue pencil of 18 names including Fitch and Loomis. Blue endpapers have a little wear near gutter. Repaired tears on two pages and a tiny tear at top of cloth spine. Top edges gilt. Clean and straight.
