About This Item

Ed Emberley "believes that everyone can learn to draw. His drawing books for children feature clear step-by-step instructions employing numbers, letters, and shapes graded to the early elementary school level."

Condition: Bright textured, oblong white hardcover boards are decorated on the front with six different faces and the rear board has five other faces. The spine, boards and corners are in good condition with some cosmetic blemishes/smudges to the front and rear boards plus wear marks to the bottom edge of the back strip and boards. Spine is straight and hinges are firm with no cracking to the endpapers. "Little Brown Reinforced Binding" has kept text block solid with all pages firmly attached. Slight age tanning throughout. Overall, the interior pages are clean with no tears, cracks, or previous owner marks but have a few small cosmetic marks. Filled throughout with labeled two-page spreads showing the sequence of marks and steps to create faces along with pages of individual face parts – this is less common book of Emberley's but a great addition to any child's library. 32 pages plus index of the different faces.

Edward Emberley (1931 - ) is an author and illustrated best known for his children's picture books but in particular his instructional drawing books that enable young children to be an "artist". Emberley studied art at the Massachusetts School of Art in Boston and at the Rhode Island School of Design. He has illustrated or contributed to over 50 books, many of which were first published between the 1960's and 1980's, and now many with new releases in the 2000's. Over the years his books have won numerous awards and honors.
