About This Item
London: Hodder & Stoughton, c1920. Hardback. 174pp. Publisher's red cloth binding with gilt to front and spine. Top edge gilt. No jacket. Sixteen coloured illustrations tipped-in. Originally published in 1916, this is a later edition, most likely from around 1920 though it is undated. Fifteen fairy stories from around the world and some of Dulac's best known illustrations. Book in fair condition. Cloth binding generally rubbed and quite worn in certain places. The hinges are weak and the cloth has split in places at the hinges with the result that the spine cover is becoming detached. Occasional crack at gutter but all pages are present and securely held. Some mild toning/spotting to endpapers and prelims, also to fore and bottom edges. The text block itself is clean and has only occasional very slight spotting. Gift dedication to front free endpaper. Although the book has clearly had a lot of use, it is still a very serviceable copy and the illustrations are all bright and crisp. Now protected in an archival film wrap.
