Henry Horace Williams (1858-1940) was professor of philosophy at UNC Chapel Hill from 1890 to 1940. He was the first chair of the "Mental and Moral Sciences Department," which later became the Department of Philosophy. There is a character based upon him in Thomas Wolfe's "Look Homeward Angel" (Professsor Vergil Weldon).
