Derby 1967, Breakfast with the gov. of Kentucky", black-and-white photograph, 8" x 10", group of 5 persons with Breathitt standing in the middle /// POINTS OF INTEREST: "Edward Thompson Breathitt, Jr. (November 26, 1924 – October 14, 2003) was an American politician from the Commonwealth of Kentucky. A member of one of the state's political families, he was the 51st Governor of Kentucky, serving from 1963 to 1967…His major accomplishment as governor was the passage of the Kentucky Civil Rights Act, the first desegregation law passed by a southern state…Breathitt was one of three [Southern] governors to oppose George Wallace's proposed constitutional amendment to give states and state courts sole jurisdiction over their public schools, preventing a federal law to integrate them…" (wikipedia); "Edward T.
