New York: Parke-Bernet Galleries, 1941. Book. Very Good+. Hardcover. Stated First Edition.. Four books outlining in detail the books of A. Edward Newton offered at public auction in the year 1941. Slim hardcover introductory book about Mr. Newton and his book collection is a hardcover with blue paper-covered boards, Newton's custom bookplate as a paste-on illustration on cover. Spots of wear to two corner tips, spine ends; a little fading to board edges; binding tight and pages clean; no dust jacket (as issued) and states FIRST EDITION on copyright page. Laid in the introductory book is a newspaper article about the upcoming sale of the collection. The three books listing actual offerings are complete with original dust jackets, in fact the Part One book has TWO dust jackets, complete with printed card from Parke-Bernet explaining why. Some edge wear and edge chipping - now in archival quality removable mylar covers. Blue paper-covered boards with dark blue lettering (matching the introductory book). Covers are clean with some age-toning to edges. Wear to corners and spine ends. Bindings are tight and square, hinges are sound, pages are clean and bright. Printed on quality paper and well-illustrated, with detailed description of each book being offered in the sale. The rare books and manuscripts offered at public sale after the passing of the great book collector A. Edward Newton in the year 1941. Sale took place in three parts: Part One on April 16, 17 and 18; Part Two on May 14, 15, and 16; Part Three October 29 and 30, 1941. Each part represented here with a hardcover book and dust jacket, as well as a fourth hardcover book introducing the sale (no jacket)..
