About This Item

New Haven, CT: Privately Printed, 1937. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good. 165p octavo, illustrated. A very good copy in blue cloth. 300 copies printed. Mabel La Farge , wife of artist John La Farge wrote a memoir of Fabbri (first 20 pages) and follows with letters from Fabbri mostly to Mabel La Farge. Fabbri was an artist, and one of the first to collect Cezanne for which he paid next to nothing. This copy is warmly inscribed to Wallace Fowlie "To Wallace Fowlie to introduce him to another great friend & Mt Carmelite from Mabel La Farge. July 2 1942" Mt Carmelite refers to Mt Carmel Connecticut. Fowlie has underlined the book lightly in pencil and made a very short note. Tipped into the rear is a facsimile in Egisto Fabbri's hand of his translation of the Canticle of the Sun by St Francis of Assisi
