London.. No date. [1881 - 1887].. Lithograph, handcolored, image approximately 9 1/2 x 13 inches on sheet 12 3/4 x 16 3/4 inches. A few light scattered spots across the image (appear to be drips from handcoloring). Good condition. An original lithograph from E.T. Booth's "Rough Notes on the Birds observed during 25 years' Shooting and Collecting in the British Isles", artist Edward Neale here charmingly and realistically depicts the bird and its habitat. Anker ("Bird Books and Bird Art") notes that "the beautiful plates (lithographs coloured by hand) show the birds in different plumages." These beautifully executed lithographs are rather scarce. marked Plate III. in upper right image. .
