Includes "Mr. Bickerstaff Visits a Friend," "The Political Upholsterer," "Recollections of Childhood," "Adventures of a Shilling," "Meditations in Westminster Abbey," several on Sir Roger de Coverley, several on Beau Tibbs, others. 284 pp. Red beveled cloth boards. Gilt top edge, gilt lettering to spine and front board with small design to front board (two trees with text on ribbon : "Arbor Scientiae / Arbor Vitae". Frontis illustration of the "Tory Foxhunter". Edges uncut. Significant rubbing to bottom edge, top spinecap, tips of corners rubbed through to cardboard; light rubbing elsewhere to extremities. Some light fraying to spinecaps, corners. Moderate sunning to spine. Light rubbing to front board, rear board, with moderate rubbing to 0.5 inch by 5 inch rectangle. Light spotting to front board with a dozen or so white spots quarter dime-sized or smaller. Light foxing to endpapers, first and last few pages. Bottom 5 inches along frontis page detached from binding. Tear to length of rear hinge with stitching visible but hinge still intact. Boards very lightly cocked with slight curve to vertical and horizontal axis. Very slight spine lean to top half of spine.
