London, John Weale, 1853 1st. Large hardback, approx 11.5 x 9 inches. Quarter bound in green morocco leather to spine and green cloth to boards. Decorative gilt edging and banding to spine with gilt lettering. Plain endpapers. In very good condition. Later fine binding, with later endpapers. Some minor handling marks to pages. some plates have some light mild foxing and spots, including a couple of spots to frontis portrait. Else a very good clean and tight copy. xxiv + 334pp. Illustrated with 53 full-page engraved plates (many are larger fold-out plates.) With B&W diagrams and figures within text.
