About This Item

London: Macmillan and Co.,, 1892. First edition, an abridgement, intended for students, of Marshall's Principles of Economics, with a chapter on Trade Unions added at the end of book six. "The necessary abridgement has been effected not by systematic compression so much as by the omission of many discussions on points of minor importance and of some difficult theoretical investigations" (Preface). Alfred Marshall (1842-1924) was a leading British economist who is credited with the field's development as an academic discipline. Octavo. Original blue cloth, spine lettered in gilt. Slight lean to spine, minor spotting to endpapers and toning to contents, contents without marking. A very good copy. Keynes 38.
